It's Almost Sunday!

Rob Westbrook is the church planter and pastor of LifePointe Church, in Amory, Mississippi. He is married to Teresa and they have one daughter, Lauren.

I am exhausted so I'll make this a quick summary.
What a completely awesome day! We launched our new series, ReThink Church, this morning. We talked about, and practiced, CELEBRATING. I think we shook some items off the shelves of the Dollar General store next door. Really great service. Already gearing up for next week: CONNECTING.Everybody converged at my house this afternoon for our cookout. The weather was iffy, but things couldn't have went better. I don't know about everybody else but I had a great time. I grilled a bunch of hot dogs, polish sausages and hot sausages. We had all kinds of food and bunches of desserts. The football field I mowed in our pasture was worn out after all the football, soccer, and ultimate Frisbee. There were a few catfish caught, too. A few times I quietly slipped off alone just to take in the picture of all our guys and gals enjoying their time with each other. Moving.I'll have some pictures later. If you were there and have some pictures or video, send them to me so I can include them.Don't forget that our sermon series for October is Parenthood and you need to start thinking of the three people you're inviting for that series. It's OK to invite them for this series, too!I'm about to drag myself to bed. Totally beat but couldn't be happier about what God is doing in LifePointe Church! Thank you, Jesus! We had an excellent day at LifePointe Sunday. Here's some of the things that stick out in my mind:
So that you can experience the great Sunday service we had, here's the video. Now with improved sound. Take some time and give it a watch. If you were there, leave a comment and tell me what you thought. I want to hear from you!
We actually did it. We cancelled church last Sunday. Kinda.
Here's what we did. We met 30 minutes before our normal worship time. We sang a few songs and I spoke on what we were about to do.Which was . . . At 10:30am we divided into several groups and went out into the local neighborhoods. At each house we left packets containing a New Testament and one of our brochures, along with flyer explaining that we were skipping church to invite them back next week.I expected 15-20 adults to participate. Instead we had around 60 hit the streets! Because of my under-estimation of participants, we exhausted our supplies in about 10-15 minutes. We quickly made up some more packets, and when we came back together one hour later, we had covered about 45 city blocks. In addition, flyers were placed under the windshield wipers of about 100 cars at an "unnamed" large discount store.I don't know what type of response we might get for our efforts but we do have a bunch of pumped up LifePointers ready to do it again! So we're planning on how to keep this going, without cancelling church every Sunday. We need someone here when those invited show up!Sunday was fun and many of our folks had some really conversations. We got outside the walls and we're anxious to see what God does with it.We did tape the short service we did have. You can watch it below. You need to see the song about 8-9 minutes in. To Tina Benton, 7 years old, sings there. See what you think.
