LifePointe River Baptism Video

On August 15, 2010, LifePointe baptized over 20 people. Some were baptized that morning, during our worship service. The rest were baptized that afternoon, in the Buttahatchie River, not far from Amory, MS. We have a little video of that event. Take a look. We had a wonderful time!

Sunday Goodness: A Sunday Summary

This is a bit late, but our Sunday at LifePointe was One of those "you had to be there" days. Here's a few quick highlights:

  • We had our largest one service crowd in our over 2 1/2 year history.
  • The band was the best in recent memory, perhaps ever.
  • I would love to have that band line-up every Sunday.
  • Six people were baptized in our Sunday morning service.
  • The message was number 13 in the series: Rooted. The subject: End Times.
  • More people gave their lives to Christ at the end of the service.
  • We ate lunch after the service, together, in our building.
  • More people and more food than ever before for Lunch@LifePointe.
  • Baptism in the Buttahatchie River Sunday afternoon.
  • A larger than expected crowd came to the river baptism, even though the location was about 20-25 minutes south of our building location.
  • Brent and I baptized together the the jacuzzi-like waters of the river.
  • Brent baptized his mom!
  • We baptized a total of 16 people in the river.
  • That's 22 PEOPLE BAPTIZED IN ONE DAY!
  • Lord, please let every Sunday be like last Sunday!

Sunday Rundown

Sunday was a great day to be at LifePointe Church! The worship center was packed and filled with people worshiping God. For me Sunday was one of the most meaningful services in quite a while.

The band was EXCELLENT! They were joined on-stage by quite a few of our students for various songs and they all did great. I’m proud of everyone who is participating in our worship band.

My message was sermon #12 in our summer series: Rooted. The topic … death! Yeah, it’s not one of those feel good topics but the reality is, we all face it. The message was answering four questions: Why do Christians Die?, What Happens to Christians When They Die?, What Happens to Non-Christians When They Die, and When are Christians Raised from the Dead? Yep, pretty serious stuff. My prayer is everyone walked out our doors knowing they will spend eternity with Jesus.

I returned to the LifePointe building Sunday night for our Prayer and Share at 6:00 pm. We’re going through the book of Romans, one verse at a time. No rabbit goes unchased! We’re having a ball on Sunday nights.

Such a good day Sunday. I’m already anticipating what God’s going to do next Sunday. I can’t wait.

Sunday Review

LifePointe Church had a fantastic day today. We're still down a bit in attendance, but baseball and softball are about to wrap up. So when everyone gets back we're going to be pressed for room. A great problem to have.

Bob, our worship leader, was out today. This left James to lead the worship. Today was his first go at it and I have to say he did a great job! With Drew on drums, there were four young ladies singing, as well as a male voice with one of our men. They all did an outstanding job. We even went ole school, singing "Victory in Jesus!" I'm proud of James, our band, and the additional voices we're adding. The worship band future looks bright at LifePointe.

The message was the ninth in our series: Rooted. This series is all about examining and becoming aware of the basic tenets of the Christian faith. It's been a blast to prepare for and deliver. Today's topic was The Resurrection. The Resurrection power was present this morning. There was a great response and God is still changing lives. Some big faith decisions were made this morning. We also had quite a few first time guests today. Thanks for being a part of LifePointe today!

After the service, we had Lunch@LifePointe. There was A LOT of food, especially dessert. I may not eat for a week. Thanks to everyone who prepared food and worked to get it out for everyone this morning. Our group of volunteers are second to none.

This all comes on the heels of The Pointe's Womanless Beauty Pagent, held Friday night. The Pointe is the student ministry of our church. They wanted some way to raise money so they could have a party for the younger kids of our church. They came up with this Womanless Beauty Pagent idea. There was a big crowd Friday night and we had about 20 "women" participate. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time. The pagent was hugely successful. Looks like a big party is in store for our younger children.

So now I'm going to catch my breath for a few minutes they head back for our Prayer and Share Small Group Experience. I'm looking forward to that tonight.
