The LifePointe Dance

Last Saturday night, there was a party thrown by TweenPointe, the 5th and 6th graders at LifePointe Church. The party was for the kids and they’re “adopted grandparents.” When the school year started, adults adopted each child, without the child knowing who they were. Throughout the year, the adopted grandparents encouraged and prayed for their adopted child. The party was to reveal who each child’s grandparents were. A very good thing.

Then there was fun and games. This video captures one of those games. These are two of our men. The one on the left is Bob, our worship leader. The one on the right is Vern, one of our favorite people. Each man had a empty Kleenex tissue box strapped around them. The box was filled with ping pong balls. The goal: shake out your ping pong balls. The result: one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. See what you think. Christians Wanna Laugh Too

I love good comedy. Unfortunately, from a Christian perspective, good comedy is not always easy to find. But, there are these guys, Tripp Crosby ( @trippcrosby ) and Tyler Stanton ( @tylerstanton ) who make me laugh out loud. You should check out their individual blogs and follow them on Twitter. The guys have a YouTube channel full of insanely funny videos. Go check them out here.

What Not to Do Performing a Wedding

For a pastor, weddings are usually tense events. There are always those intangibles that you just can’t rehearse or script. Singers forget the words, ring-bearers start wailing and run to Momma, or a bridesmaid goes the wrong way. But the pastor, well, he has to exhibit control and coolness. It’s just part of the job description. Which is why you never want this to happen.

Diet Mountain Dew is Safe

For those of you who know me, you know there’s usually a can or bottle of Diet Mountain Dew very close by. Some of you have expressed concern about this and have worried about my health and safety because of my high intake of this beverage. I thank you for your concern but I now have confirmation that my large consumption of Diet Mountain Dew will not kill me. The website Death by Caffeine has a calculator that determines the amount of a caffeinated drink needed for death, based upon one’s weight. Here’s the answer I got:

Based upon that figure, I would have to drink a can of Diet Mountain Dew every five minutes for 24 hours to hit that figure. Since my average is only one every 10 minutes, I’m perfectly safe.

A Tribute to Christian Marketing

Hey, there’s this brand new video game out there you’ve just got to see. It’s going to take the world by storm! I can see millions of people playing this game. It’ll be a worldwide phenomenon! I can’t believe someone didn’t think of this concept sooner. Wow, if they had something like this on XBox or Wii or PlayStation III a few years ago, someone could have made mucho bucks.

Wow, here’s another original product.

Just kidding.

OK, I know that’s a little cynical and harsh. But these products do exist. Click on the pictures and check it out. Truth is, I’d play the guitar thing if I had the chance.

It just seems that Christianity, in so many ways, has turned into a big consumer market. Companies find a way to baptize secular items, repackage them under the “Christian” label, and we gobble them up. But hey, we gotta do something with our money. It’s not like there’s better places to put it.
