It’s been a while since I’ve updated the blog. I’m happily very busy at LifePointe Church. LifePointe is doing well and we’re seeing God continue to do some amazing things. I love the people of LifePointe! Looks like they’re stuck with me, and I with them, for a long time to come.
I also became bi-vocational about a year ago. I’m working 20 hours or so a week at the LifeWay Christian Store in Tupelo, Mississippi. I was spending so much money there I decided to take a job to pay for my book habit. LifeWay is a great place to work, and the people there are outstanding.
My daughter and her boyfriend got engaged and we’ve got a March 2013 wedding to plan for. I’m proud of Lauren and Brandon. They are a couple who loves Jesus and God has big plans for them.
Between church ministry, a part-time job, and family, there’s not too much leisure time. In fact, there’s not much spare time at all.
So I found something else to do!
Since around the first of the year, I’ve been using what little spare time I’ve had to put together some books! Yep, I’ve become a book author and publisher. With the rise of eReaders, such as the Kindle and Nook, there’s a path for most anybody to publish books and get them noticed. So I’ve jumped into that stream.
After much work and less sleep, in June 2012 my first book, Sermon Outlines for Busy Pastors: Volume 1, hit Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Since that time, I’ve put up four more books. I even have three of those books available in paperback. (See the books and descriptions at http://busypastorsermons.com)
I’ve always wanted to do a book, but I’ve never had the platform or means to do so. This new rise of the ebook has made it possible. I’ve done everything myself, from formatting to layout, so it’s taken a lot more time, but so far it’s cost me absolutely nothing. Three of my books are sermon outlines books, and I’m working on a fourth for October. Two others are taken from papers I wrote back in my seminary days.
I’ve built a new website for my book adventures. You can find it at: http://busypastorsermons.com. I’ve done a few blog posts over there. I plan to continue to use http://robwestbrook.com as usual, with occasional posts and quotes. I’ll use the book site for updates there and occasional posts concerning preaching and sermon preparation.
So that is what’s been up with me in 2012. If you want to help me out, spread some links and comments about my books and http://busypastorsermons.com. Thanks!
