Yesterday afternoon a tornado hit one of our local communities, Smithville, Mississippi. The destruction was unbelievable. LifePointe Church has several families in this community. All of our people survived but they did lose some family members.
Smithville is a small town of around 1000 people. By my estimates, about 50% of the town was leveled. Tragic. I’ve never seen anything like it. I was on the Mississippi coast 2 days after Katrina and the destruction is comparable.
The medical community here is doing outstanding work. When I arrived in Smithville about an hour and a half after the tornado struck I saw many nurses already working, many from our church.
Keep this community and its people in your prayers. There is a long road ahead of them.
You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again.
