Today was a tough and bittersweet day at LifePointe. We had a wonderful service but was tempered by a bit of down news. Today was the last day our present band played for us on a regular basis. For the past 8-10 months several members of our band have played at two churches, all on Sunday morning. They sacrificed their time to help us have the best worship music we could provide. We’re thankful God brought alone Jeff, Patrick, and David when he did. And we wish them well in the future, when I’m sure they will show up on the LifePointe stage from time to time.
At the same time, I’m excited about the future of our worship band and music. Our worship leader, Bob, will continue to lead us to the throne of God. Over the months, our church has grown and we have quite a few talented musicians. We may discover we have more. So Bob already has a good core ready to step up and lead the worship. They now get to exercise the gifts God has blessed them with. There’s no doubt LifePointe will continue to have a great music team.
Today was week 5 of our series Rooted. We’re spending the summer examining the basic doctrines of our Christian faith. Today was a tough one: Angels, Demons, and Spiritual Warfare. Yeah, tough. I had more than I really had time for. And it was a spiritual battle just to prepare and deliver this message. I don’t know how much I actually got over. We’ll see. God can take anything and use it for His glory and purpose. I’m just not so sure of my attempt.
I’ve got a busy week ahead of me. Tomorrow morning The Pointe, our students, leave out for Camp Armstrong. I’m going to spend as much time as possible with them. They return Thursday, which is also the day I leave for The Emmaus Walk. Although I’m not too familiar with the Emmaus Walk, I have friends who have been and seen God work through the event. So I’m looking forward to it. I’m ready for a break and I hope the Emmaus Walk helps me recharge my batteries. I’m praying that God works me over!
Right now, I’m about to attend our Sunday night small group experience: Prayer and Share. Prayer and Share has been phenomenal the last few weeks. There’s something about that dynamic of God’s Word mixed with people who’s hearts are desperately seeking Him. I can’t wait to see what He’s going to do tonight. You should join us, tonight, 6:00 pm. You just might be moved.
