LifePointe
No Comments Sunday Rewind
Another super day at LifePointe Church today. The worship center was full and anticipation filled the air. I pray that we never reach the point where we take this atmosphere and God’s presence for granted. It can easily become “normal” to us and we miss the uniqueness of what God is doing in our midst. This ain’t normal and God is doing a special work, right here, in Amory, Mississippi!
Our band was a three piece today while Bob and his wife were out of town. They never missed a beat and led us in a cool time of worship. The “stripped down” sound just seemed to fit into the overall spirit of the service. Those guys do an awesome job. Our drummer, Jeff, and bassist, Patrick, also play at another local church in a early service. Then they hurry over to LifePointe and pour it out here. That’s guys committed to lifting up the name of Jesus!
I continued the American Idols series today with the topic: The Idolatry of Status. Our main scripture reference was Luke 14:7-14. So many of us spend so much of our time trying to gain the attention and approval of others. We can (and do sometimes) slip easily into making status a life-consuming pursuit. The way we break out of the “Coolness Complex” is practicing humility, possibly finding new friends, and finding our status in God, not others. Quite a heavy message. If I were the only one present, the message would still have been on target.
I was glad to see more new faces, some faces becoming familiar, and some returning after a while away. And, as always, our regular guys and gals made it all happen. There are so many who give their time every Sunday, and throughout the week, to make LifePointe happen. Thanks, guys!
