The Adventures of A Mississippi Church Planter
Amory MS Demographics
A church wanting to be on mission in their town will want to know how their community is shaped economically, racially, and in many other categories. If you’re curious about our community, Amory, Mississippi, here a quick little chart generated at the website zipskinny.com. Very interesting, wouldn’t you say? See anything that stands out or surprises you? Leave a comment and we’ll talk about it.

I think this is interesting data and I’m curious to see if they update it with the new census info that comes out in a few months.
The charts for Oxford and Amory are pretty comparable.
Check out the data for Waterford (38685). Shows that there are some parts of MS that are in really bad shape. (You’ll see that there aren’t many single people there at all – everyone’s either married or widowed).

One of the things I find interesting from the Amory demographic (if I’m reading the charts right) is that our percentage of divorced and widowed are higher than both the state and national percentages. Room for a more single-focused ministry? We’ve got a couple of guys working on that now. From the percentages there looks to be a need there.
