Monday Morning Look Back
We had a great day at LifePointe Church yesterday.
- It was good to be back. The effects of the flu are still with me but I was not going to miss another Sunday. I made it fine all day.
- We had 125 again today. Considering it was raining cats and dogs and it was Super Bowl Sunday, we had outstanding attendance.
- I think the service was the best we’ve had up to this point.
- The band did another excellent job. We experimented a little bit with the layout and I really think it went well. We may stick with this order for a while. Brooke blew us all away on the last song.
- I started a new series “Called Out” for the month of February. The series is all about the vision, purpose, and values of LifePointe Church. I’m laying out all that we are and intend to be as a church. When this series is finished everyone will know what we’re all about, leading up to our first LifePointe Boot Camp (membership class) March 2.
- The guys and gals of LifePointe put on a spread Sunday afternoon for the Super Bowl. We had food everywhere and it was all good, I mean real good. We got the two 50″ plasmas hooked up to the sound system and an HD antenna. There were 10 or so tables set up. I don’t know how many were there but the line was long getting to the food. Since Eli has Mississippi connections, the Giants were the overwhelming favorites with our crowd, so it was pretty loud when the Giants won. We really had a good time watching the game and had an excellent turn out.
- I’m in the final stages of getting our paperwork done and sent in to the Mississippi Baptist Convention. I should have all of this done in the next two days.
- I see some things with the church that shows the “jell” factor. Things are starting to come together in some key areas.
- We still have more to do than people to do it. We really need more volunteers in all areas of our children’s ministries. We’ve got quite a few who are in that area who have not been to a worship service more than once. At some point we’ve got to change that. I guess it’s good that this aspect of LifePointe Church is being stretched. Counting the volunteers we’re running around 35-40 in our three children’s services.
- I can sense we’re finally moving into a new phase at LifePointe. We’re slowly transitioning from the “construction” mentality to the “ministry” mentality. It’s going to take some time but I think we’re seeing some awareness of the need to make the transition.
